Street Light Survey Project
The Street Light Survey Project is facilitated by a brother and sister collaboration, Aaron Treher and Amanda Treher. As a research and community project, the work consists of a series of survey boxes and site-specific survey cards aimed at bringing an awareness to the interaction of wildlife found at street lights.
Focusing on organisms that are attracted to street lights and other night time lights, participants are encouraged to discover, study, and share the biodiversity they observe by filling out a survey card. Participants can obtain, complete and return the survey card using survey boxes that are placed in public spaces near street lights. Survey cards for specific regions can also be downloaded below. For those interested in contributing to the larger project, please contact Aaron. Additionally, anyone can post their findings by documenting and sharing images of bugs on the project page at iNaturalist.org. Aaron and Amanda will eventually be hosting an exhibition that highlights some of the more bizzare and unique visitors to street lights in our communities.
